Risk@360degrees 2012

This Risk@360degrees Banking & Finance Congress will be dedicated to the themes of Risk Culture  (during the morning sessions) and Basel 3 and Solvency 2 (during the afternoon sessions)

The financial services industry is currently facing unprecedented operational, regulatory and economic pressures. Rigorous legal controls and recent aggressive efforts by regulators (Basel 3, Solvency 2, MiFID 2) require Risk Management to act swiftly in order to minimize risks and improve process governance.

More than ever, financial institutions need to review their business model, and more specifically their risk management and the way they conduct business. Global economic slowdown, increasing competition from new entrants in financial services, and waves of new regulation that make business more complex and create cost burdens and overkills for medium-size players … these are just some of the drivers for re-evaluating the risk models and investing in operational excellence.

During the afternoon, we will take an in-depth look at the true drivers of this process optimisation and process excellence in terms of Basel 3 and Solvency 2, and also review some market responses to concerns expressed by business managers. The Congress will provide the perfect opportunity to review a wide range of solutions.

The morning session will start with an extensive and qualitative research studies about Risk Culture This pragmatic and in-depth overview will provide clear-cut and unambiguous answers and ideas for all participants. The morning session will end with a presentation of our keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Stefan Duchateau, and will be followed by a panel discussion.

The afternoon session will start with interactive workshops providing pragmatic and operational answers to Basel 3 and Solvency 2. The participants will have the unique opportunity to attend all of the presentations, without having to choose amongst them. Keynote Speaker Nadine Spruyt from Febelfin, will review the latest developments in terms of Basel 3, followed by Sabine Wuaime from Assuralia who will review the latest developments in terms of Solvency 2. The Academic Session (dedicated to the theme 'The impact of Basel 3 and Solvency 2 on the financial services industry' will be moderated by Benoît Feron, Managing Partner, Financial Services, at  NautaDutilh. He will introduce the challenging and exciting panel debate between bankers and insurers.
